Stair Treads - 15-Pack Clear Strips with Glow in the Dark Strip

I picked up these Healthy Seniors Indoor Stair Treads to help navigate the stairs at my aging father's house. They're easy to trim and install, but I recommend you make sure your stairs are clean beforehand. I had a little trouble with one and realized that dog hair was the reason why - but once I cleaned the rest of the stairs, I didn't have any more trouble. The glow strip is a nice feature and reminds me of illuminated lights in the aisle of an airplane.

I ordered these expecting that they would be clear. I guess my interpretation of clear is not the same as the manufacturers. If you imagine what it's like looking at a frosted window, the kind they use in bathrooms to let in light but help maintain privacy, you'll know what these treads are like.My plan was to use them on a wooden ladder that goes up to a sleeping loft, to give bare feet a better grip while going up and down.While the material seems durable and the grip is definitely better, I think these look too much like plastic and they hide the natural wood beauty I was hoping to keep in view. They are well made, easy to trim and install and as a plastic piece not hard to keep clean.I just don't like the water glass look of them on my steps, so thankfully they were as easy to take off and to put on.

The indoor stair treads are easy to install on clean wood floors and stairs. The adhesive side sticks securely to the floor. The non-slip treads provide a good grip and effectively prevent slips, protecting the floor. The glow-in-the-dark stripes are bright and useful when walking in darker areas. The treads are easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth. The treads are easy to cut to the desired size.

The so called multiple protrusions designed for stability feel oddly obtrusive underfoot a constant tactile reminder of the products presence rather than a seamless safety enhancement. The luminous strip intended for nighttime visibility emits a faint sickly green glow less helpful guide and more cheap novelty reminiscent of childrens toys disrupting the visual tranquility of the staircase. Installation while ostensibly simple peel and stick required tedious alignment and smoothing to avoid air bubbles a process far more involved than suggested. I had assumed the clear design would be truly invisible perhaps using some advanced optical polymer not merely translucent plastic sheeting that still catches the light altering the wood's natural finish. The claim they are better than stair runners seems a bold assertion given their rather utilitarian aesthetic. They adhere certainly but the long term effect of this adhesive on fine wood remains a nagging concern like an unresolved chord in a Mahler symphony unsettling and persistent.
